#RIPTwitter: Users Say Goodbye To The App Preempting A Shutdown
Ever since Elon Musk took over Twitter, things on the platform have been chaotic to say the least. With new features and policies being issued and rolled back almost immediately, and the plethora of imposter accounts causing actual financial losses, social media users are gearing up to say goodbye to the beloved microblogging platform, in anticipation of an inevitable shutdown.

Understandably, people are experiencing a range of emotions. Some are furious at Elon Musk for singlehandedly bringing about the end of a popular social media platform, while others are feeling nostalgic and grieving the loss of a space that gave so many people a voice. Others still are pointing out the ramifications this will have for communities lacking resources that greatly benefitted from the crowd-sourcing aspect of Twitter. But in true Twitter fashion, the memes have never been funnier.

Take for instance this nod to the band at the end of Titanic, who kept playing to boost morales while the ship sank.

Or this reference to popular meme 'this is fine', which usually involves a dog, but has been redrawn to depict the iconic Twitter bluebird.

Some people joked about their 'massive following'.

There were also some predictions about upcoming sales pitches.

And some throwbacks to other significant closures (RIP Club Penguin).

Meanwhile Musk himself remains adamant that the company will prevail, often tweeting out jokes about the assumption that Twitter will shut down.
