Cambridge Dictionary Reveals Word Of The Year 2022
The Cambridge Dictionary on Thursday revealed "homer" as its Word of the Year 2022.

Homer is short for home run, a baseball score.

Delving on why the word was selected, Cambridge Dictionary said on its site that searches for it had spiked.. It was searched over 65,000 times in a single day on May 5 in connection with being cited on popular word game Wordle.

The informal American English term had left Wordle players "confused" and "frustrated", Cambridge Dictionary went on to add on its site. Other five-letter words also experienced spikes as what has been termed the "wordle-effect" set in. They include caulk, tacit, bayou and humor: American for humour.
