'Imran Deliberately Delaying Long March For COAS Appointment'
Journalist Azaz Syed said on Wednesday that the government had finalised a name for the post of COAS following General Bajwa's retirement.

He made the comments in flagship Naya Daur TV show Khabar Say Aagay. Syed said the next COAS will either be Asim Munir or Azhar Abbas.

Journalist Kamran Yousaf said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan's desire to influence the appointment of the next COAS will remain unfulfilled. Things, he said, had been going according to plan. The establishment, the journalist said, would never want the appointment be rendered controversial. Khan, however, he said wanted exactly that.

While snap general elections were a demand of the PTI chairman, the appointment of the COAS constituted the crux of the matter, Yousaf said. The journalist said how Khan had reservations on some potential contenders for the top army slot was worth noting on this account.

Former Radio Pakistan director general Murtaza Solangi said Imran was deliberately his long march to Islamabad as he wanted his arrival in the federal capital to coincide with the announcement of the next COAS. Then, Solangi said, Imran will talk about how he is affording the new COAS an opportunity to ensure free-and-fair general elections were conducted.

Flagship Naya Daur TV  show Khabar Say Aagay broadcasts every Monday to Saturday at 9pm.
