The Friday Times (TFT) editor Najam Sethi said on Friday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan will not be able to realise his objectives sans violence.
The TFT editor made these comments in flagship Naya Daur TV show Khabar Say Aagay. Khan, Sethi said, would not initiate it. Those arrayed against him too, he said, were not game for this. This, the star journalist credited to a vigilant media.
If discipline breaks due to popular pressure then the State will be under siege and not the government, Sethi said. This, he said, may constitute a grave situation. Khan’s movement, he said, was aimed at seizing the State.
The veteran journalist said Thursday’s unprecedented presser of the DG ISI was convened to deliver a message to the rank-and-file of the military on how the force will remain unpartisan. This, Sethi said, was especially true for those military men wanting the army to intervene in Khan’s favour. Sethi said the recently-promoted were those who believed in this policy too.
Imran, the veteran journalist said, was now in a fix. He resorted to rapping the military in the morning only to hold negotiations by nightfall.
