Ayesha Chundrigar runs an animal shelter in Karachi called ACF Animal Rescue Official. It is Pakistan’s largest sanctuary and rescue service for injured and abused street animals.

Chundrigar regularly shares stories of the animals ACF comes across and saves. These stories are aimed at cultivating empathy for and generating knowledge about animals.

Recently she shared a horrific story where a gang of men took revenge from another man by pouring acid into his donkey. Upon rescuing the donkey, who was named Bear, she documented his story on her social media.

Despite all the love, care and treatment, Bear’s body could not sustain the horrific injuries and died.

The intention one set to harm an innocent animal that cannot defend himself. Then going to a store to purchase acid that is available easily for a few rupees. Statistically, males are more likely to engage in violent acts. Statistically, U can also correct deviant behaviour if U identify disturbing markers, the biggest one being animal abuse. Our society is FULL of animal abuse to the most insane level of perverse. Connect the dots 3/3

Bear, the acid burn donkey died yesterday. In my line of work, death is always a central protagonist you can never escape. No matter how much effort you put into the well-being of an animal, most of the time they never see justice & you never get a moment to grieve 1/2

These values are built at a very early age at KG and primary school level. It’s a combined work between school and child’s parents/carers working with the wider society.

Unfortunately we have generations of parents who have never been schooled and our teachers and teaching when available are below par. Unless Pakistan achieves 100% primary education to a good international standard for a few generations this deterioration in values can’t be stopped. It’s very much achievable in a few generations but priority for the nation and executive has to be “Education Education Education !”

Just compare budget spending for defence, education and health for UK to Pakistan. You will be able to realise where the priority lies. We have been a nuclear power for decades but as society have deteriorated. So we got to get the priorities right at national level and also keep doing the good individual social work to highlight and educate the public. Thank you for sharing this story. Let us be humane and respectful to all life on this planet that we share with them.
