Author Sara Naveed has written a whopping five books, with the sixth one just released a few days ago. Writing warm and heartfelt romantic fiction, the Lahore based author has had a successful trajectory, going from self-publishing her first book to having Penguin Random House in India acquiring the rights to her first and second books. The Friday Times decided ask her a few questions so we could get to know her better, and she happily obliged. So here goes, seven questions with Sara Naveed.

1. Who is your inspiration as an author?

Honestly, I become inspired by every new writer I come across. Recently, I discovered this author Elena Armas and have been reading her books. I enjoy reading Cecelia Ahern, Colleen Hoover, Sally Rooney, and Beth O’Leary.

2. If you had to pick only one book to read for the rest of your life, what would you pick?

This is an extremely tricky question but if I had to choose only one book, I would choose ‘Gone with the Wind’ by Margaret Mitchell because it took me a long while to read that 800+ pages book, and I think I can live through the rest of my life re-reading it.

3. Favorite film?

Titanic. Still a huge fan of this masterpiece.

4. Favorite memory?

The day I found out I was going to get published by Penguin Random House (India).

5. Biggest challenge as a writer?

Finding the right printer for my fifth book, The Cold Heart.

6. What are your most and least favorite literary trends?

In the recent times, most favourite literary trend would be coming across booktok community on social media, particularly TikTok.

Least favourite would be being able to rely on eBooks when you can’t find the physical copy of a particular book.

7. If you could speak to one author in the whole world who would it be and why?

Faiqa Mansab, author of This House of Clay and Water. She has been my friend from the literary fraternity for a long time now and someone I can truly rely on for any advice related to all things writing and books.
