Supreme Court Acquits Shahzeb Khan Murder Suspect Shahrukh Jatoi
The Supreme Court on Tuesday acquitted Shahrukh Jatoi —the prime suspect of the 2012 Shahzeb Khan murder case— as well as other suspects involved in the case.

The decision was taken by a three-member bench, headed by Justice Ijazul Ahsan, and comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi.

Shahrukh Jatoi was convicted for gunning down Shahzeb Khan along with two co-conspirators in Karachi in December 2012. An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) then awarded Jatoi and his accomplice Siraj Ali Talpur the death penalty, as well giving life sentences to Siraj's younger brother Sajjad Ali Talpur, and domestic helper Ghulam Murtaza Lashari.

In today's hearing Jatoi's lawyer Latif Khosa said, “The parties have already reached an agreement,” adding "The accused had no intention of spreading terror, but the murder event was presented as a case of terrorism”.

Shahzeb Khan was murdered in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority when he had been returning home with his sister from a wedding. He had gotten into an altercation with the suspect's servant who had threatened and harassed his sister.
