PM Shehbaz Departs For Kazakhstan To Take Part In CICA Summit
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday departed for a two-day visit to Kazakhstan to attend the 6th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

The conference is scheduled to take place in Kazakhstan's capital city Astana on the 12-13 of October. The prime minister tweeted that he is leaving for Kazakhstan to attend the 6th Summit of CICA. "believe CICA is capable of shaping a new configuration of economic cooperation & security in Asia through greater connectivity," he said.

"As the world faces the prospect of a recession fueled by increase in the energy & food prices, there is a greater need to promote engagement & understanding to form win-win partnerships," he said, adding that climate change induced disasters require collaborative efforts for outcomes that will benefit everyone.

PM Shehbaz will be accompanied by members of the Cabinet, as well as other senior officials. A video posted by the official Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) account shows Shehbaz Sharif and Mariyum Aurangzeb and a couple of other officials boarding a Pakistan Air Force place.

The Prime Minister will address the plenary meeting of CICA, according to a statement by the Foreign Office, during which he will elaborate upon the significance of CICA as a unique forum for promoting interaction, understanding and collaboration amongst countries across Asia to address common challenges.

The Prime Minister will also highlight Pakistan’s perspective on regional and global issues. On the sidelines of the Summit, the Prime Minister will hold bilateral meetings with the leaders of various CICA Member States aimed at fostering greater cooperation, particularly in the fields of trade, investment and energy.

CICA is an intergovernmental process comprising 27 countries from all across Asia, that focuses on promoting peace, security and socio-economic development in the Asian continent. Pakistan is one of its founding members.
