'Chances Of Imran Khan Winning From Three NA Seats Appear Slim'
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) looks set to wrest the Punjab, journalist Aniq Naji said on Tuesday.

He made the remarks in flagship Naya Daur TV show Khabar Say Aagay. Naji said a final decision on this would be taken by PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif. He said the party had always envisaged Nawaz's return to Pakistan with the party governing Punjab with the PML-N supremo disembarking in Lahore.

He said Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi's "revolutionary" credentials were known to all and sundry. Elahi, he said, could be party to a successful military coup. A people's revolution, however, he would not share any link with.

Analyst Muzamal Suharwardy said a battle was being witnessed in the Punjab. This, he said, Elahi was also cognisant of. Suharwardy said this explained why the Punjab Assembly was in session sans agenda. He said Elahi knew the governor would call for a vote of confidence the moment the session was adjourned.

Journalist Hassan Iftikhar, who hosts Aap Ka Halka on Naya Daur TV, said Punjab Home Minister Hashim Dogar's troubles had started with Shehbaz Gill's arrest. He said many in the party used to regularly question his loyalty. He said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan's chances of winning from three of seven seats he was due to contest by-elections from on the October 16 appeared slim.

Journalist Aijaz Ahmad said Elahi will abandon the PTI chairman when he embarked on his long march to Islamabad. Things, he said, were not as clear as they were being made to appear while commenting on recent political developments.

Flagship Naya Daur TV show Khabar Say Aagay broadcasts Monday to Saturday at 9pm.
