Veteran Journalist Ayaz Amir's Wife Samina Seeks Pre-Arrest Bail in Sarah Murder Case
Veteran journalist Ayaz Amir's wife Samina Shah on Monday approached an Islamabad court for pre-arrest bail in connection with the Sarah Inam murder.

Shah told the court that she had been named in the case by the paternal uncle and aunt of her deceased daughter-in-law. Shah said she had been residing at the farmhouse where Sarah was killed since long. She said son Shahnawaz Amir, who is alleged to have killed wife Sarah, had written to her on WhatsApp asking for Sarah to formally move in with him post their marriage (ruksattee). Shah said Shahnawaz had told her of Sarah's killing on phone later at 9:12pm.

She said she had rushed to their room after to find Sarah dead. Shah said Shahnawaz was then asked to stay put. Ayaz, the suspect's father, had alerted police meanwhile. A police team reached the spot in minutes, she said.

Shah told the court she had nothing to do with Sarah's killing. Neither was she an eye witness, the woman said.

Sara, daughter-in-law of veteran journalist Ayaz Amir, was allegedly killed on Friday by Shahnawaz in Chak Shehzad area of Islamabad. Shahnawaz reportedly attacked Sarah on the head with a dumbbell. Shahnawaz has been nabbed, police said. “The incident is being investigated; whatever facts come out, will be shared.”
