YouTuber Jameel Farooqui Nabbed Over Gill Abuse Allegations
YouTuber Jameel Farooqui has been arrested in Karachi over charges of falsely accusing the Islamabad Police of 'sexually and physically abusing' Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shahbaz Gill.

The whereabouts of the YouTuber, who is also an anchor at Bol TV, remain unknown since Saturday night. As per a Bol TV employee, Farooqui had left the office on Saturday night and had been missing since then. The Islamabad Police had issued a statement saying that a case had been registered against the anchorperson at the Ramna Police Station in Islamabad.

The statement also said, "In his vlog, the suspect falsely accused Islamabad police of sexually and physically assaulting Gill."

An FIR was filed against Farooqui under Sections 499 (defamation), 500 (punishment for defamation), 501 (printing or engraving matter known to be defamatory), and 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

The FIR was filed by the police on the complaint of a local magistrate who claimed to have seen a video clip of Farooqui's vlog where he had described in graphic detail the alleged abuse of Shahbaz Gill at the hands of the Islamabad Police.

However, the Karachi Police has denied that Farooqui is in their custody. Zaman Town SHO Zahid Lodhi said that Farooqui had not been taken into custody by local police or any team falling under his jurisdiction.

He said that a Bol TV employee named Kamran Minhas had called the police station and said that Farooqui had been missing since Saturday night after he left the channel's office. At this, Lodhi told him that Farooqui was not in their custody.
