Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that the current coalition government would complete its term, dismissing the possibility of snap polls in the country.
Addressing the media in Islamabad, Fazl said elections will be held on time in 2023, adding that a meeting of the PDM has decided to file a reference in the Supreme Court for the interpretation of Article 63-A of the Constitution by a full court bench.
Talking about the top court’s verdict in the Punjab chief minister election case, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz said that the government’s request for the formation of a full court bench in the case was rejected because the judges did not want to serve justice.
“Justice was killed,” she said, adding that “I was sure full court bench would not be formed”.
“What have you done, Chief Justice Sahib?” Maryam questioned.
She said that Chaudhry Parvez Elahi is “judiciary’s chief minister” bestowed on the country by three justices of the top court.
Earlier this month, PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had said that the government would complete its term and "remain in power till August 17, 2023."
He had said that the incumbent government is "10 times better" than the PTI on all fronts.
