Heavy Flooding Wreaks Havoc In Balochistan, Death Toll Rises To 102
Heavy rainfall in areas of Balochistan near the Hub Dam and the Bela Tehsil have caused extreme flooding in the region, wreaking havoc in the lives of local residents and bringing the death toll in the province up to 102.

Lasbela Deputy Commissioner Iftikhar Bugti said, "Heavy flash floods are approaching the dam after the catchment areas of Hub Dam, including Sarona, Dureji, Winder, Bala and other areas received heavy rains for the last 16 hours."

The Hub district is the fourth largest city of Balochistan, and is the industrial hub of the province. Due to the torrential rainfall and the subsequent flooding, the death toll in the province has risen to 102.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said that around 6,063 houses have been demolished in the province, as well as at least 550-kilometers of a road track along the four major highways in Balochistan.

The heavy rainfall has also resulted in the death of more than 712 livestock, and has flooded houses, offices, schools and graveyards. People in neighboring villages have been stranded, and cotton fields have been flooded.

Iftikhar Bugti said that a high alert has been issued to the population of nearby villages to immediately shift to safer places as flash floods would reach the dam in the next few hours. There has also been heavy rainfall on the Khuzdar and Wadh mountains, which will be reaching the Hub district in the shape of more floods.
