Admitting that the economic recovery was ‘fragile’ during his government, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairperson and former prime minister Imran Khan has claimed that he had tried to warn the 'neutrals' that economic recovery would ‘go into a tailspin' if he was ousted.
In an apparent reference to the military establishment, Khan tweeted that the 'neutrals' had been duly warned by him and former finance minister Shaukat Tarin about the precarious state of economic recovery and how it would spiral out of control if the alleged conspiracy against him was to succeed.
In March when the then-prime minister Imran Khan was facing a vote of no confidence, the Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar said in a briefing that the army was not involved in the political scene of the country and requested to not be dragged into the political agenda and narrative of the political parties.
Following the DG's statement, Imran Khan said during a rally held in Lahore a day before the vote of no-confidence, that 'only animals are neutral', adding that humans have to side with good or evil.
He tweeted "Rupee at all time low Rs193/$ (from Rs178/ on 8March); Interest rates at 15% highest since 1998; stock market down 3,000 pts or 6.4%; stock market lost Rs604 billion capitalisation; Inflation 13.4% highest since Jan 2020," and claimed that these figures reflect 'the lowest ever confidence' in the current government.
