Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Aamir Liaquat's estranged wife Dania Malik, who had accused him of mental and physical torture, would be provided security by the police in Bahawalpur after she claimed that Liaquat was issuing threats to her.
Dania, who made serious allegations against Aamir Liaquat following her fallout with him, held a meeting with City ASP Uzair Ahmad along with her mother. Dania told the official that she and her family were being threatened by the PTI lawmaker.
The ASP was quoted by Dawn as saying that Dania's mother said that they were feeling unsafe due to these threats and sought security.
Dania and her parents live in the jurisdiction of the Baghdadul Jadid police. The relevant officers have been asked to ensure that the family is provided security.
Earlier, Dania filed a case in a family court seeking dissolution of her marriage, with the court issuing a notice to Aamir Liaquat for June 7.
Dania has since been appearing on media channels, accusing Aamir Liaquat of having tortured and exploited her. She has also claimed that she is 15-year-old and not 18, as claimed by Aamir Liaquat at the time of their marriage.
Aamir Liaquat has denied the allegations and released several suggestive audio clips allegedly of Dania, implying that she was dishonest.
