Just a couple of months ago, the song also ranked 3rd place on the Spotify Global Viral 50 playlist. In an Instagram post, singer Ali Sethi shared a screenshot of the song in the Spotify playlist, and shed a little light onto the backstory of the song.

"one year ago, when @zulfiqarjkhan heard this tune I’d sent him on a voicenote, he told me with tremendous calm that it will enter the global charts. i laughed, drank my coffee, and put it out of mind. today, i woke up to this," his caption read.

The song has been lauded for its catchy tune, and it encapsulating a feeling of timelessness that makes it easy for even global audiences to enjoy it, despite it being a Pakistani song.

It particularly struck a chord in India, where even celebrities such as Shilpa Shetty and Arjun Kapoor have been sharing the song on their social media.

On Monday, The New Yorker magazine published an article about the song, which also served as a profile of Pasoori singer Ali Sethi.
