PTI Supporters Attempt To Attack Peshawar Imam For Condemning Masjid-e-Nabvi Incident
Enraged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers in Peshawar surrounded and attempted to attack a mosque Imam for condemning last night's hooliganism at Masjid-e-Nabvi during his Friday sermon.

Reports indicate that police had to intervene to save the Imam who was being surrounded by angry PTI supporters for giving a lecture condemning the altercation between PTI supporters and the government delegation in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

According to a tweet by journalist Iftikhar Firdous, the theme of the Friday sermon given by the Imam in Hayatabad was the incident that took place in KSA, calling for the sanctity of holy places. After the Imam was surrounded by PTI supporters, the police had to intervene to save him, and the mosque administration had to give assurances to the mob that the Imam would be removed from his position.

On Thursday, the Saudi government arrested at least 150 Pakistanis two hours after the harassment of members of the delegation led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as it entered the Masjid-e-Nabvi in Medina.

Videos doing the rounds on social media showed a group of men surrounding and hurling abuses at federal ministers who are part of the delegation visiting Saudi Arabia for umrah along with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Federal Minister Shahzain Bugti was seen trying to prevent the crowd from physically attacking the delegates.

People criticized the actions of the PTI supporters, condemning them for engaging in such activities in one of the holiest places as per Islamic tradition.

While there are no official reports of the Hayatabad incident at the moment, people have taken to social media to voice their opinion.

There are some who say the Imam was from the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazal-ur-Rehman), and had alleged that PTI chairperson and former prime minister Imran Khan was a 'Yahoodi' agent, and his followers are apostates, following which people stood up to leave in protest. However, these claims remain unverified.
