Usman Mirza Case: Despite Video Evidence, Investigator Says Not Enough Proof
Despite video evidence, an investigator handling the Usman Mirza harassment case has told the court that the police could not find any eyewitnesses 'who saw the victims naked during the alleged assault'.

Sub inspector Tariq Zaman said that the plaintiff had "provided the video showing the couple being assaulted in a USB [drive]," however it remains unclear if this would be sufficient evidentiary proof.

On the stand, the sub inspector said that police were unable to speak with any eyewitnesses who saw when the couple was 'allegedly undressed.' Furthermore, no eyewitnesses had been able to confirm the location of the apartment, the alleged scene of the crime.

He said that during their investigation, police has been unable to search the alleged crime scene.  Police had attempted to enter the apartment, but the door was locked. When police knocked on the door, no one answered.  Instead, police only mapped the alleged crime scene from the outside.

Police are waiting from a response from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) regarding the admissibility of the video of the incident, which was uploaded to social media.

Last month, both victims recanted their statements in court, alleging that police had ‘fabricated’ the entire case against Mirza and his accomplices. The government has said they will pursue the case despite the lack of victim testimony.
