PTI MPA Loses Cool Over Reporter’s Tough Questions During Hospital Visit
Following in the footsteps of some of his party colleagues, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPA Aqibullah Khan reportedly misbehaved after a journalist inquired about out-of-order equipment during his visit to the Bacha Khan Hospital Complex, Shahmansoor in Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The visit was apparently made in an attempt to curry favor among the party's constituents, after the PTI lost the local government elections in the area.

The MPA, his brother, National Assembly (NA) Speaker Asad Qaiser, and newly-elected Swabi tehsil mayor Attaullah Khan, were inspecting the hospital and hearing from patients receiving treatment there, while accompanied by members of the press.

Meeting with nurses, one of the attendants asked Aqibullah Khan about police negligence, which reportedly left the MPA visibly irked.  He told the attendant that he was visiting the hospital on a 'different issue,' before shuffling off to a different ward, according to the News.

Later, a journalist inquired about an out-of-order machine, causing the MPA to 'misbehave'. The MPA then responded that everything would be fixed within a year.

Doctors at the hospital reported that software for some of their machines did not work well because it was outdated, and repairs could take up to three weeks. NA speaker Asad Qaiser reported that the government had secured additional funds for the hospital.

Late last year, the PTI came under fire for allegedly abusing and defaming female journalists. More recently, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters, including Special Assistant to Prime Minister of Pakistan on Political Communication Dr. Shabaz Gill, received condemnation for launching an online campaign disparaging renowned journalist Asma Shirazi.
