PM Makes Virtual Appearance Before Court, Rejects Khawaja Asif's 'False Allegations'
Prime Minister Imran Khan, on Friday, appeared before a sessions court via video link in a defamation case that he had filed against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Asif for accusing him of money laundering and use of anonymous companies in the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust funds.

The PM said that my life is an open book and has been so for a long time. He added that the people of Pakistan have always admired him for his financial integrity. The premier told that court that the allegations made by Asif are false and were meant to damage his reputation.

The PM said, in his statement before the court, that Asif had falsely claimed that he as the chairman of the Board of SKMT had made investments out of Zakat funds in a non-transparent manner. He added that Asif had also alleged that he was worse than “Double Shah” who was a fraudster and had deprived thousands of people of their hard-earned money.

The PM said that comparing him to double shah had hurt his reputation. He added that the investment decisions that were termed as suspicious by the defendant were made by an investment board that did include him.

The premier said that the defendant had caused damage to his reputation and hence he should pay him damages which he estimated to be around Rupees ten billion.
