Two students of Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba have been arrested for allegedly trying to sexually assault a female student and filming the act. According to reports, one of the culprits, Andleeb Gad’di, was the Nazim of Gender Studies Punjab University.
According to police, the incident took place in Muslim Town Lahore where the two suspects tried to kidnap and assault a girl. Police added that the suspects were arrested within a few hours.
People expressed shock and anger over the incident on social media. Human rights activist Nida Kirmani wrote, “This is terrible enough on its own but the fact that one of the culprits is the Nazim of Gender Studies makes it even worse”.

One social media user said that the PU administration should take measures to prevent “sexual terrorism” on campus.

The Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba is known for regularly terrorising other students on university campuses. In August this year, Jamiat activists attacked a study circle organised by Progressive Students Collective in Punjab University.
In September this year students from the far-right organization attacked hostel students at Punjab University’s New Campus.
Punjab University students also staged a protest in front of the Governor House against on-campus Violence by Jamiat.
