Three alleged policemen were booked for robbing a citizen in Lahore’s Gulberg area. The incident took place outside the Movenpick restaurant in Gulberg where the victim, Abdul Ahad, had gone to buy food. The accused, wearing police uniforms, approached Ahad while he was waiting for his food to arrive.

According to Ahad, the accused pulled out their guns and asked him to hand over all his valuables. He added that they snatched valuables worth more than 2 lak rupees and fled in the direction of the Liberty market. Ahad reported that a security guard was the eyewitness of the incident.

In another shocking detail that emerged, the victim claimed that he recognised two of the three culprits, Imran Watoo and Asif, as serving police officers.

Police registered a case against the suspect under multiple different charges including charges of robbery and miscount by police officers under section 155 of the police order 2002.

Some time ago a gang of policemen was arrested for kidnapping and robbing citizens in the name of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigations. A police officer told reporters that five of the eight members of this gang were serving policemen. He said that the criminals used to kidnap, blackmail, and rob people mostly traders, under the garb of investigations for NAB.
