Nazim Jokhio Murder Investigation Extended To 11 More Individuals, Including PPP MNA Jam Abdul Karim, Brother of Prime Accused MPA Jam Awais
The police investigation in the Nazim Jokhio murder case has been expanded to include 11 people, including PPP MNA Jam Abdul Karim, who is the brother of prime accused MPA Jam Awais. A kidnapping section has been added to the police report. Police say that three suspects have been already arrested in the murder case, in which the slain Jokhio was allegedly kidnapped and tortured to death for having made a video of MPA Jam Awais and his guests hunting the houbara bustard near Thatta, Sindh.

The three suspects under arrest are PPP MPA Jam Owais, Haider and Meher Ali. Investigators have also been able to recover video footage from around the time of the murder, which had been removed earlier, but successfully traced once the suspects were in police custody.

The counsel for the prosecution, on behalf of the brother of the victim, Afzal Jokhio, submitted a petition highlighting what they see as flaws in the investigation conducted so far. The prosecution has also called for the charge of terrorism to be added.

Judicial Magistrate Malir has asked the investigation officer to look into the question of whether the case merits the inclusion of a terrorism charge.

A postmortem examination for the body of Nazim Jokhio, conducted at the Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC), has revealed marks of severe torture.

Nazim Jokhio had made a video as he stopped a car with foreign license number and asked the occupants about their activities in Thatta. These individuals threatened Jokhio and tried to take away his mobile phone. As the video went viral, Jokhio was found dead at Memon Goth, Malir. The family accuse PPP MPA Jam Awais of his murder. Allegations have arisen that the foreign visitor at the scene was from a Gulf Arab background.
