Shaukat Mukadam, Father Of Noor, Issued Notice By IHC
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a notice to Shaukat Mukadam, father of Noor Mukadam, seeking his response by the 20th of October. This notice was received by his lawyer in court.

A petition had been filed by Zakir Jaffer and Asmat Adamjee, parents of the main accused Zahir Jaffer, against the court's decision to proceed with the trial.

The notice was issued to Shaukat Mukadam on the defendants' request, calling for staying the trial.

Asad Jamal, who is Asmat Adamjee's lawyer, had prayed the court to not have a hearing on the 20th of October, since evidence would be recorded on that day. Evidence in the form of forensic reports, CCTV footage and other material had not yet been provided to the defendants, he stated.

A day earlier, a local court in Islamabad indicted 12 suspects, including the prime suspect, Zahir Jaffer, in the Noor’ murder case.

The court has indicted main accused Zahir, his parents, three of their domestic staff and six employees of Therapy Works.

Zakir Jaffer and Asmat Adamjee, the parents of the main accused Zahir, had also requested the court to not go ahead with their indictment, taking the position that the evidence against them had not been provided to them. The counsel for Noor’s father Shaukat Mukadam, however, argued that such evidence could be seen during the course of the trial, and that the indictment ought to proceed.
