A Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander was killed while a 27-year-old Captain of Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom during an intelligence-based operation in Tank, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) that issued a statement earlier today (Thursday), weapons and ammunitions were also recovered from the hideout.

The statement said, "TTP terrorist commander Khawaza din alias Sher Khan got killed."

It added that during the intense exchange of fire, 27-year-old Captain Sikandar from Pakpattan lost his life.
Earlier, 10 militants including four commanders, were killed by security forces in a similar operation in South Waziristan.

The ISPR had then stated that the operation was carried out on reports of the presence of militants.

According to the statement, the militants killed in the operation used to plant IEDs, conduct fire raids, and also target unarmed civilians. They were planning more attacks in South Waziristan, the ISPR said.

Earlier on Monday, a commander of the militant group Islamic State (IS) has been killed by security forces in a raid in Balochistan’s Mastung district on Sunday, a spokesperson for the province’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) had said.

The spokesperson said security forces received information of the terrorist’s presence after which they launched an operation which took place in a vineyard in the district’s Killi Mehrab area.

Mumtaz Ahmed aka Pehelwan, the IS commander, was killed in the raid.
