Rana Sanaullah’s Warning


Rana Sanaullah of the PML-N was quoted by Daily Express (17 February 2020) as saying that Firdous Ashiq Awan should choose better words, since if he started talking like her, she would not be able to go to her constituency. He went on to recommend that ‘Firdous Baji’ ought to stop using bad language and avoid ‘teyn-teyn’ (Firdous Baji bad-zuban ban kar teyn teyn karna band kar dein).


“We shall overcome”


Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar, according to Daily Jang (17 February 2020) is of the view that the journey of serving the people had begun (awami khidmat ka safr shuru ho chuka hai) and that now it could not be halted. He went on to say that there were always obstacles in the path of change (tabdeeli) but that his party would not lose its determination in the face of any such hurdle.


Bilawal vs Jadu


The PPP’s Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was quoted by Daily Express (20 February 2020) as saying that the government was running on the basis of sorcery (jadu). He futher opined that the cure for this sorcery were the people (awam).


Sage Advice


Chaudhry Shujaat, according to Daily Dunya (20 February 2020), had some advice for PM Imran Khan that would allow the latter to be a successful leader. First, that he ought to avoid toadies and stooges (chapluson aur chughal-khoron se duur rahein). Second, that he identify hypocrites around him and avoid them. And third, that he must not develop too high an opinion of himself (khud-pasandi na aanay dein). Chaudhry Shujaat went on to opine that the PM had not learned political tricks (siyasi hera-pheri) and it was his good intentions that have brought him to his high office. He also said that he had given the same advice to Nawaz Sharif, who had flouted it.


Chohan’s take on Bilawal


Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan of the PTI, according to Daily Dunya (21 February 2020) stated that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was a child (Bilawal bacha mann ka kacha hai) but that he did big things alongside his father Asif Ali Zardari and Anwar Majeed.
