The big thaw
This may come as a surprise but there has been a big thaw between The Man of Steel & Co and Chory Shuj of Guj & Co. There was a time when the two families were close, drawn together by the oh-so persuasive charm of the then military dictator, the late unlamented Tyrant Terry Thomas of the 1980s. Then The Brothers Sharifov decided not to share the spoils of power, especially Takht Lahore, which they deemed to be their own preserve. This was followed by Mush’s coup, during which The Brothers fled to Al-King’s Land of Sand.
During the Mush interregnum, Chory Shuj of Guj & Co were the most powerful clan in the country, and true to their culture of “rakh rakhao”, they took a kindly view of a young Sharif who was kept hostage in Pakistan while his elders lived with Al-King. This young Sharif is Talented Bro’s firstborn, and he was able to survive at home due mostly to the protection provided by Chory Shuj of Guj.
Naturally, he developed a soft corner for his family’s arch rivals. When the tables were turned and The Brothers Sharifov returned to Pakistan with Talented Bro ascending Takht Lahore, he did not reciprocate The Chories’ generosity. This caused no end of anguish in the latters’ clan. It seemed that their feud would endure forever.
But thank goodness for The Great Khan. His policies and treatment of the two Punjabi houses have brought them close once again. The Khan it is who by his bungling has healed their rifts, to the extent that they are now in close and secret contact with each other. It began with The Man of Steel’s sons reaching out to Chory Shuj when he first went abroad to seek treatment. The relationship progressed when Talented Bro’s son, who’d been a beneficiary of The Chories’ largesse, restored his old and warm relationship. It was strengthened when Chory Perverse, who Speaks for the Punjab, took a sympathetic view of The Man of Steel’s illness. Proof of the two houses’ harmonious relationship is evidenced by the fact that Chory Perverse’s son and Talented Bro’s son are the best of buddies, in constant communication with each other.
Things have now come to such a pass that the two houses are prepared to share the spoils of power in the next dispensation, approved by The Boyz. The new formula is that when The Great Khan gets his marching orders, Talented Bro will rule in Isloo while Chory Perverse will ascend Takht Lahore. Que sera sera – what will be, will be.
