Policing
According to Daily Jang (02 September 2019), the theft of motorcycles from the police station at Kahna has become a routine matter. Two motorcycles, including that belonging to a policeman, were stolen over the previous two days. This comes on top of the earlier theft of a traffic warden’s motorcycle from the gate of the police-station, as well as numerous others belonging to various visitors to the premises.

Daily Jang (02 September 2019) informed its readers that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was an exemplary organization among the SAARC countries, and has played a pivotal role in reducing corruption in the country – resulting in Pakistan going from 175th to 116th in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI).
Self-assessment
It was reported by Daily Jang (02 September 2019) that Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar announced that in order to promote industry and investment, factories would no longer be subject to inspections that check for adherence to labour laws and social security requirements. Instead, the CM stated, factories would now be expected to perform a self-assessment – and that this would be mandatory.
Directive for a Corrective
PM Imran Khan, according to Daily Jang (04 September 2019), was displeased over what he termed as the twisting of facts (haqaiq ko towr-marowr ke pesh kiya ja raha hai) over the granting of a waiver for liabilities worth Rs 208 billion to various businesses the under Gas Infrastructure Development Cess (GIDC). The PM directed that his financial team must clarify the situation so as to clear the air on this issue.

Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman, according to Daily Dunya (05 September 2019), claimed that an NRO was being sought from him for PM Imran Khan’s government, but that those who had sold out the country and Kashmir could not be forgiven. Furthermore, since his supporters were preparing for a lockdown of the federal capital, the Maulana opined that one kick would suffice for the tottering government (larkharati hakumat ko aik laat marnay ki deyr hai).

According to Daily Dunya (06 September 2019), the UK’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson claimed that he would rather be dead in a ditch than ask for an extension on Brexit. The report further stated that at one point, a police cadet standing behind the Prime Minister collapsed and fell, due to which the Prime Minister had to cut short his speech.
No matter what?
US President Donald Trump was quoted by Daily Jang (06 September 2019) as saying that Iran wished for negotiations that led to a deal, but that sanctions on that country would not be lifted regardless. Furthermore, Trump noted that Iran was facing financial difficulties due to ever tougher sanctions.
Landmark victory for poultry
According to Daily Dunya (07 September 2019), a French court ruled in favour of roosters rather than humans. The report stated that the court rejected a couple’s complaint against the owner of a rooster which crowed every morning and disturbed their sleep.
View from the Train
Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed, according to Daily Express (07 September 2019), commented on the possibility of a plea bargain for Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif. The Railways minister claimed that he had advised PM Imran Khan to take whatever he could get out of them, since they were miserly (kanjoos).
Deadly Dairy
Daily Express (08 September 2019) reported that authorities had seized thousands of bags of powdered milk from a warehouse in Okara, worth many millions of rupees. This powdered milk, containing harmful chemicals, is smuggled in from Iran via Quetta all the way to Okara, and then used to prepare milk and yoghurt.
