Miracle generator


It was reported by Daily Dunya (20 November 2017) that an engineer from Azad Kashmir had come up with the ‘formula’ for a unique generator that runs by itself and does not require any external source of energy such as diesel, petrol, oil, etc. He further revealed that his ‘formula’ was for a generator that would run on the electricity which it itself generated – using up one part to produce two parts energy for the consumer. He has asked the authorities for help in producing this unique generator.


Lalu isn’t happy with Modi


Lalu Prasad Yadav was quoted by Daily Dunya (20 November 2017) as saying that people were previously afraid of lions, but they are now more afraid of the cow, thanks to the Modi government.


Strategic matters?


Daily Dunya (20 November 2017) informed its readers that homosexuality was on the rise amongst Indian soldiers, and that cold food had also led to a cooling of desire (thunda khaana jazbat bhee thunday kar raha hai) The report further claimed that a letter issued to this effect had been declared false by Indian military officials.

Former Interior Minister Rehman Malik was quoted by Daily Dunya (20 November 2017 ) as saying that if the PML-N did not quit its politics of confrontation, the ship of democracy will be shattered into pieces. He went on to say that for now it was Nawaz Sharif asking “Mujhe kyoon nikala?” (Why was I removed?) but soon everyone might be asking “Hamein kyoon nikala?”.


Blocking maneuver


Daily Express (25 November 2017) reported that actress Meera’s wedding was once again left hanging as the man who claims to be married to her moved the Lahore High Court in a bid to stop her from marrying anyone. He claims that he is married to her and is unwilling to let go of it under any circumstances.


Imran on comparisons


PTI chief Imran Khan, according to Daily Nawa-i-Waqt (25 November 2017) claimed that to compare him to Nawaz Sharif was akin to comparing him to Sultana Daku. He further stated that Nawaz Sharif’s ideology was that of corruption.


Marriyum Aurangzeb agrees


Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb was quoted by Daily Nawa-i-Waqt (25 November 2017) as saying that Imran Khan had spoken the first truth of his life: that there was no comparison possible between the symbol of people’s power Nawaz Sharif and the PTI chief.


Love loses out


According to Daily Express (26 November 2017), the sit-ins and protests in and around the provincial capital of Lahore had led to more than 50 wedding ceremonies being cancelled. A number of bridal processions returned home, having accomplished nothing.


Not the way to go?


The leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, Khursheed Shah, according to Daily Express (26 November 2017) took the view that the government had exacerbated the situation by an operation against the Faizabad protesters. In his view, the government ought to have resolved the matter through consultation with religious scholars and the other parties.


Musharraf’s formula


It was reported by Daily Jang (26 November 2017) that former president General (R.) Pervez Musharraf called on the Supreme Court to intervene or else the PPP and the PML-N would win again. He asked that a provisional government be established and further progress towards the 2018 elections be halted.
