According to Awan, this incident was “Mujhe kyoon roka?” (Why was I stopped?) – the second episode of “Mujhe kyoon nikala?” (Why was I removed?)


Politics of uchall-koodh


Daily Jang (03 October 2017) reported that Asif Ali Zardari took the view that Imran Khan’s non-serious (ghair-sanjeeda) politics, which was based on raising a ruckus (ucchall koodh) had allowed the government a walk-over.


Siraj-ul-Haq’s charge-sheet


The Jamaat-e-Islami’s leader Siraj-ul-Haq was quoted by Daily Jang (03 October 2017) as observing that Khwaja Asif during his visit to the United States, rather than raising the issues of Rohingya Muslims or Afia Siddiqui, chose instead to understate the Pakistan’s contributions in the War on Terror. Moreover, accordin to Siraj-ul-Haq, he had also expressed regret over Pakistan’s role in the Afghan war and that he had even given statements against a scholar of religion (alim-e-deen) Hafiz Saeed.


Sheikh Rasheed on Ahsan Iqbal


According to Daily Jang (03 October 2017), Sheikh Rasheed opined that nobody knows about Ahsan Iqbal in Narowal. He further stated that if a thief was followed to court by a procession of thieves (choron ki baaraat), then the judiciary would ask for protection.


Why oh why?


Ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, according to Daily Dunya (05 October 2017) stated that he had been sent home for not having taken a salary from his son. He asked that if anyone understood why he had been removed from power, they ought to tell him.


Khan on lunatics


Imran Khan was quoted by Daily Express (05 October 2017) as saying that the PML-N retaining Nawaz Sharif as party leader was the equivalent of lunatics taking over the asylum.


Healing powers


Daily Nawa-i-Waqt (07 October 2017) reported that Zimbabwe was now going to start exporting donkey hides to China. The report quoted the Deputy Minister for Agriculture in Zimbabwe as saying that Zimbabwe was going to join the list of African countries to benefit from the widespread belief in China of the medicinal qualities of donkey hides.

Daily Dunya (07 October 2017) reported that members of staff who already stood accused by the Specialised Healthcare Department and the Punjab Government of having previously leaked exam papers were asked to prepare new medical entry tests.


Shehbaz Sharif’s riposte


Chief Minister of Punjab Shehbaz Sharif was quoted by Daily Express (07 October 2017) as saying that Imran Khan and the PTI made baseless accusations, but were unable to build a metro or public healthcare system in the province that they govern. He added that they abandoned patients and fled to the mountains when dengue struck Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.


Sheikh Rasheed sounds the alert


The Awami Muslim League’s Sheikh Rasheed, according to Daily Dunya (07 October 2017) said that preparations were being made for further attempts to amend the Constitution according to a foreign (ghair-mulki) agenda, and that the nation had to stay awake (qaum jagti rahay).
