Pakistan > America

Shehzad Ghias is worried about where things are going with the Trump administration

Pakistan > America
Jeremy McClean’s Facebook posts and the events in Charlottesville, Virginia, conclusively prove once and for all that Pakistan is better than America. Who would want to live in a country full of such bigotry and hate?

America is specifically unsafe for Muslims. Just recently, there was an attack on Muslims with many innocent people dead and wounded. But because the attack was on Muslims it did not get the same attention as 9/11. It also did not get as much attention because it happened in Lahore. All Pakistanis will have to unite to condemn the intolerance in America.

Shrines which are popular with Muslim devotees are not safe either. Who would want to live in a country where Muslims cannot even safely practice their own religion? I think we need a grand migration to the land of true freedom and opportunity. So, perhaps all those people should move to Pakistan to be safer.

An overly exuberant celebration of tolerance and diversity?

A country where religious minorities are not safe cannot justify itself in the community of civilised nations. So the USA should really do more to keep its hate groups and line and protect Muslims. There have been lots of instances of innocent people being murdered by crazed mobs – where is the justice Uncle Sam? These incidents took place a mere 7,000 miles from Washington DC! Clearly Muslims are not safe in America anymore.

The pictures coming from Charlottesville of White Supremacists and Neo-Nazi groups show us America’s tolerance for hate. Nobody would want to live in a country where a group can simply take a rally out and engage in mass violence based on some fundamentalist religious ideology. One crazed brainwashed white nationalist even drove a car into a group of peaceful anti-protestors. It does not bode well for a nation if one individual with grand delusions fueled bigotry is able to attempt homicide so conveniently.

More than the act, it is the support the individual is receiving that makes one fearful. I am sure even if the courts manage to justly convict this individual – the entire nation of America will shower him with love and flowers. Millions will end his funerals and cities will be burned down in his memory. There will be a shrine in New York for him and millions would visit from all over the country. Donald Trump has already said that there is violence on many sides – I am sure the crowd must have said something to attract terrorism, especially if there were women in that protest since it is always the women’s fault.

The United States might have a very serious problem, with extreme right-wing groups on the rise

I am all for religious freedom but America should be careful about letting hate groups masquerade themselves under the guise of religion. We live in a country made to protect religious freedom – Pakistanis understand more than most people about being an oppressed minority not having the right to practice your own religion.

These instances would never happen in a country like Pakistan. I see no reason why we shouldn’t be able to continue sitting comfortably on our high horse and prioritise the end of Islamophobia in America.

America is not realising the pitfalls of the policies of Zia-ul-Trump. Ask us Pakistanis, we’ll tell you! The emboldening of hate groups under him combined with the proliferation of guns will inevitably result in hateful violent domestic terrorist groups being formed in America. Pakistan might even have to militarily intervene to ensure peace in the region.

Pakistanis watching the event unfold in America should feel proud they live in a country where they can practice their religion – as long as their religion is the state-sanctioned one and the safe sect. Everybody in Pakistan is free to go their temples and their churches, as long as those temples and churches are not mosques, temples or churches!

We’ve made Pakistan great already.

It’s time to call Trump out on his avowed claims!
