Speaking on a podcast Shoaib Akhtar discussed his life as a cricketer candidly and spoke about the need to focus on hard work and not to compromise on effort. He also discussed his personal life including his marriage and religious views.
"My parents arranged my wedding for me, my wife is much younger than me. Our mothers had met during a hajj trip. I never announced I was getting married. You can get married in any way as you want but I wanted a simple wedding. My mother had told me she would choose a bride for me and I have never said no to my mother. Whatever she has said I agreed. I have two sons. My wife is open minded but conservative and does not want to be in the public eye. I encourage her but she doesn't want to be seen in public," said Shoaib Akhtar.
"You can remarry, that is your own choice. I believe that once you are attached with somebody and once somebody has left her home for you, you should also leave many things for her and be nice to her and be kind to her. Be an inspiration for your wife," added Akhtar.
