Former MNA Khawaja Ghulam Rasool Koreja alias Qutub Farid Koreja quit PTI on Tuesday, as members of the former ruling party continue to jump ship in wake of the May 9 mayhem following the arrest of party chairman Imran Khan.
Hours earlier, senior party leader Shireen Mazari announced to quit the Imran-led organisation and "active politics".
Shireen was taken into custody on Monday, her fourth arrest in 10 days, from outside Adiala Jail after she was released on court orders in another case.
In her brief presser, she categorically told media persons that she wouldn't be a part of PTI or any other party, from now onwards.
Speaking about the violent protests following Imran's arrest, she said, "I condemn the violence on May 9 and 10. I also gave an undertaking to the Islamabad High Court in this regard.”
Earlier on Tuesday, more leaders of the party, namely Jamshed Cheema and his wife Musarrat Cheema chose to break ties with the party.
Their lawyer validated the news, saying he had individual conversations with them in the jail. The duo had been kept behind bars for 12 days following the May 9 demonstrations that occurred after the arrest of the PTI chief in a corruption case involving the Al-Qadir Trust.
A number of PTI leaders, including Malik Aslam Amin and Hisham Inamullah, have already left the party due to the vandalism on May 9, when irate PTI protestors assaulted military and public facilities across many cities.
Some media reports suggest that more first-tier PTI leaders are expected to announce the same decision soon. Most of the party activists who announced to leave the Imran-led outfit, cited May 9 attacks as the reason.
Riots broke out as the supporters went on a rampage against his arrest from the IHC premises. As the unrest ensued, they torched government and military installations, and attacked an army vehicle in at least one recorded case.
