Imran Indicted In Toshakhana Reference, NAB Gets 8-Day Remand
PTI chairman Imran Khan was indicted in the Toshakhana reference, and handed over to the NAB in the Al-Qadir Trust case that led to his arrest a day earlier.

Additional and District Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar heard the Toshakhana case, wherein the Election Commission had sought proceedings under the criminal law.

The matter was pursued after a reference was filed by lawmakers against the former premier last year, as Imran Khan indicted today.

The ECP declared Imran guilty of illegally selling gifts from foreign dignitaries and heads of state in Oct last year, and he was prohibited from holding public office as a result.

He was charged with abusing his position as premier from 2018 to 2022 to purchase and resell gifts that he brought back from trips abroad and that cost more than Rs140 million ($635,000).

According to ECP‘s ruling, Imran was ineligible to run for office under Article 63(1)(p) of the Constitution.

Following the order, the election watchdog filed a criminal complaint against him with the Islamabad Sessions Court. The PTI chairman has since missed many hearings.
