PTI chairman Imran Khan on Saturday said that his party was ready for concurrent elections, but only if the assemblies were dissolved by May 14, the day when the Punjab elections are scheduled.
Addressing his supporters via live telecast, he said, "If you dissolve the assemblies by May 14 then we are ready on a single election date with you."
He confirmed that PTI's team comprising Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Fawad Chaudhry will be resuming dialogue with the government's representative on May 2.
"We are ready for joint elections if you are ready to dissolve the assemblies by May 14. If you are not then the Supreme Court has already ordered Punjab elections on May 14 and after that, we are going to the apex court for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa elections."
He added, "It will be a national election and we feel we are ready for it. It is the only way stability will be achieved, the economy will improve and the conditions of the people will transform."

The former premier said that he saw malice behind the government's intention to hold the polls after the budget.
He made it clear that any attempt to dissolve the assemblies after the budget would be “unacceptable” for the PTI.
Protest rallies
Imran said that rallies will be taken out on May 1 in three provincial capitals. “I will lead the rally in Lahore at 1pm, Qureshi will lead Islamabad rally simultaneously, and Pervez Khattak will lead the Peshawar rally.”
The purpose of the rally, he maintained, is to save the Constitution and the country, and invited the the legal community and the working class to ensure their participate in it.
As the ruling PDM and opposition PTI are finally engaged in political negotiations regarding the date of the upcoming general elections, insiders say the PTI’s biggest concern is that if the National Assembly is not dissolved soon, then the PDM could present a budget that would prove to be a yorker for PTI if it wins the elections.
