Info Minister Rebuffs Reports Of PM Shehbaz Taking Vote Of Confidence
Reports that Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif would request a vote of confidence from the National Assembly (NA) were refuted by Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb.

Since taking office in April of last year, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)-led government has faced several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rallies, a faltering economy, and a recent stalemate with the court.

The decision to hold a vote of confidence was not made by the prime minister. There were no such consultations, and the [vote of confidence] is unnecessary, according to a tweet from Aurangzeb.

Shehbaz, who took office as premier on April 11, 2022, was referred to by the minister as the "unanimous" choice of the people, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), and the coalition parties.

The minister of information said that "rumors" are not true and urged media outlets to avoid publishing news about the prime minister "without verification."

The minister sent out the tweet after a private news channel, citing sources, reported that the prime minister had agreed to call for a vote of confidence this week while finishing up discussions with PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif.

The sources claimed that PM Shehbaz had ordered members of parliament from all of the ruling parties to be present in Islamabad for the vote.

On April 20, 2023, Marriyum Aurangzeb said PTI Chairman Imran Khan could not conceal his incompetence, inefficiency, and corruption by "covering his face in public with a canister".

“It may be a bucket or a canister or a 'dustbin', but rest assured nothing can help Imran Khan cover up his four years of misrule which was marred by corruption, loot, and plunder,” the minister said while addressing a news conference.

She said Imran would have been visiting the public without any fear, had he not wreaked havoc on the economy. “Imran Khan could cover his face with a bucket, a canister, or a dustbin before going to the public, but nothing can help him cover his evil deeds and corruption,” the minister remarked.
