Bushra Bibi – wife of PTI chairman Imran Khan – has warned Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi and others of legal action in case of another Zaman Park operation.
"If any such operation is carried out at Zaman Park, Lahore or at any nearby place, the prime minister, chief minister and other officer(s) would be held responsible and appropriate actions or remedies shall be taken in due course of law," read a nine-page letter sent to the authorities.
"This representation(s) may be considered as a warning against taking any action in violation of fundamental rights which are in the negation of Article 10-A read with Articles 4 & 5 of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973," the communiqué maintained.
Referring to the March 18 raid by police to arrest the former premier, Bushra claimed that the action was carried out by a "platoon of officers" without a female police personnel, contrary to court instructions.
The letter also conveyed that the former first lady is working on the “rehabilitation” of Zaman Park since the last action and has “serious apprehension” that police are planning another one during Eid, which is why she has approached the premier and the chief minister.
A day earlier, Lahore High Court fined Bushra Bibi Rs100,000 for her plea to stop police from launching another operation at the PTI chief's residence.
In her plea, Bushra had nominated the Ministry of Interior, IG police, and the FIA as respondents, citing “reports” of a possible operation at during Eid.
On April 18, the LHC rejected PTI chairman’s request to bar a possible police action at his residence.
The case was heard by a five-member bench headed by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi. It sought directives to the authorities against any coercive measures over the 121 FIRs.
Nonetheless, the court had barred Punjab police from “harassing” Imran, and instructed them to ensure that the former premier receives a treatment as per the law.
