Journalist Kashif Abbasi has said that the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) will not comply with the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) and will not grant 21 billion rupees to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for conducting elections in the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) assemblies, stressing that elections will not be held even in October.
While talking to a program hosted by journalist Mansoor Ali Khan, Abbasi said that the polls in Punjab and KP will not be held even in October, as no one fights with the apex court for just a delay of four to five months.
He said that the Supreme Court is overstepping in certain matters, which is not appropriate at all. He added that the other side is also violating the constitution and the verdicts of the Supreme Court. The journalist said that the apex court will go to any extent to ensure the implementation of its directives.
Earlier, the Supreme Court announced the date for holding elections in Punjab and directed the central bank to deposit money directly to the ECP, he added.
He mentioned that it is the army that will provide the security, and they have clearly stated that the army is engaged in combating terrorism in the country and will not be available to provide security for elections.
While responding to a question about mediation efforts by Jammat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq, Abbasi said that he is sure that the efforts by Haq will fail and will not yield any result.
He said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan might agree to hold elections in October, but the ruling coalition does not want elections even in October.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) leader and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has stated in the media several times that elections will not be held even in October if Khan doesn’t ‘mend his ways’.
