The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has declared a petition against the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) summons notices served to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana case as maintainable and issued notice to NAB for summoning the former prime minister and the former first lady without following the SOPs.
The reserved verdict on the plea filed by Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi against the NAB notifications was announced by the two-member bench, which is presided over by Justices Aamer Farooq and Thaman Rifat Imtiaz.
Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were both represented in court by their lawyer, Khawaja Haris.
The NAB prosecutor said that a reminder notice had been sent to Imran Khan when the court questioned whether they had sent him a new notice during the hearing.
The chief justice questioned whether Imran Khan had appeared before the accountability watchdog. He remarked that the notices NAB had delivered did not reflect the execution of the court's ruling.
The court was informed that the suspect did not appear but did respond to the notice in writing.
The NAB's ability to turn the existing inquiry into a full-fledged investigation was questioned by Imran's lawyer.

The chief justice remarked that due to changes in the NAB laws, the anti-graft watchdog could only take on cases of graft exceeding Rs500 million, but Haris claimed that the alleged graft by the former prime minister was less than this amount based on records kept by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Following this discussion, the court declared the petition to be maintainable and sent notice to NAB.

“Until a decision is taken on the application, NAB should be ordered to stop taking disciplinary action against me,” requested Bushra Bibi.
