Chief Justice Qaseer Rasid is going to retire on March 30 2023. Justice Hilali is third in line and she will take an oath as Chief Justice PHC and act until her retirement date.
Justice Hilali was the author of the judgment which declares Section 10(2) of the Pakistan Citizenship Act, 1951, unconstitutional and discriminatory, under which the wife of a Pakistani national is entitled to the country’s citizenship, but the same is denied to the foreign husband of a Pakistani woman.

She will be the first woman in Peshawar and the second in Pakistan to become a chief justice of a high court. The first in Pakistan was Justice r Tahira Safdar from Balochistan.
