Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah launched the Sindh Premier League at an event organised at the CM House, in Karachi.
The league is aimed at providing the youth with an opportunity to showcase their talent and hone their cricketing skills. The effort also focuses on producing talent for the national team in the longer run.
It will comprise six teams, namely Benazirabad Lals, Hyderabad Bahadurs, Karachi Ghazis, Larkana Challengers, Mirpurkhas Tigers, and Sukkur Patriots.
Besides former skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed and ex-all rounder Shahid Afridi, the event was participated by dignitaries belonging to different walks of life.
Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, Minister Labour Saeed Ghani, Advisor Law Murtaza Wahab, and other government officials were also a part of the event.
President SPL, Arif Malik apprised the participants that the league will have a dedicated plan to bring up talent from interior Sindh.
He added that the league matches will be broadcast in 52 countries and create 10,000 jobs in the coming years.

Addressing the ceremony, CM Murad hoped that SPL will pave the way for the youth from Sindh to make it to the national team, and the league will prove to be a good opportunity for economic development.
Sharjeel Memon, on the occasion, vowed to extend support for the league to promote emerging talent from the province.
Murtaza Wahab praised the provincial government's relentless efforts to take the youth onboard, and hoped that the league would attract international audience, too.
Earlier, Ambassador SPL UK & Europe, Faisal Saleem Khan shared a strategy that will allow cricketers from interior Sindh to receive training at the cricket academies in England.
He added that SPL has already signed an MoU with some of the high-profile cricket academies of Europe and England.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Faisal Saleem Khan presented the official SPL jersey to CM Murad.
