Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie was offered the coveted role of a ‘Bond Girl’ back in 2006 for Casino Royale. However, she had reportedly turned down the part. “I’d rather play Bond”, she had said.

However, Daniel Craig, who was somewhat younger at the time, was cast as Bond; the identity of Bond Girl remained a secret until Eva Green took over. Angelina Jolie .

As a new James Bond was being sought after in 2006, a Bond lady was also being looked for. The 007 Agent franchise’s creators began seeking a heroine who could travel with the agent after choosing Daniel Craig as its new face.

An invitation was extended to Angelina Jolie so she could skip the auditions and be hired for the role. The Maleficent actress reportedly turned down the part because she didn’t want to be just another ‘Bond Girl,’ she claimed. Here is what the Girl, Interrupted actress had to say about playing the Bond Girl in an interview with Vanity Fair.

It all began with a call from Sony Pictures co-chair Amy Pascal. She questioned my desire to portray a Bond girl. No, I’m not at ease with it, but I would like to play Bond, I responded.

Despite the fact that the call ended, Angelina Jolie received a call shortly after when she was pitched the film Salt. Although she never got to play James Bond, Angelina Jolie sought to create a female equivalent in Salt with her Evelyn Salt character (2010).

Salt was intended to be a movie for men, much like the James Bond series. Tom Cruise was initially asked to play the part, but he declined because it was too similar to his Mission: Impossible portrayal.

Later, Angelina Jolie took over and produced a film that focused on women and shot to fame. Jolie said that making it a female-oriented movie was one of the best moves she ever made, but the heroine was still faced with obstacles.

You would think [changing] would be simple, she said. “You simply switch Edwin’s character to Edwina. Yet it was far more difficult than we anticipated. For instance, the male protagonist had a child. And he is aware that he will frequently be in danger. And we came to the conclusion that a woman would never become pregnant if she knew her life was in such danger.”

While Eva Green was chosen to play the Bond Girl in the 2006 film Casino Royale, Salt had a largely favorable reception from the public. Peacock Premium now offers Salt for streaming.
