A district and sessions court in Islamabad has directed the police to arrest PTI chairman Imran Khan in at least two cases, one related to the Toshakhana, and the other on the alleged threats to a judge.

Issuing the verdict, Judge Rana Mujahid Rahim, hearing the judge threats case, told police to produce the former premier in the court by March 29.

The case was filed against Imran on Aug 20, 2022, at Margalla police station over his remarks at a public meeting in F9 Park wherein he warned Additional District and Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry and police officials of dire consequences for their “biased” attitude towards the former ruling party.

According to Imran, Judge Zeba knew that the then imprisoned Shahbaz Gill was tortured, but she did not release him on bail. Subsequently, he was booked in a terrorism case on a plea by Magistrate Ali Javed for his threats to the judge.

The judge observed that the court will be hearing the arguments on a plea seeking PTI chief’s dismissal of the charges at the next hearing.

At the outset of the hearing, the judge warned Imran of issuing arrest warrants as the court turned down his plea for exemption from appearance over security concerns.

Toshakhana case

Separately, the ADSJ Zafar Iqbal restored non-bailable arrest warrants for the accused in the Toshakhana reference, and instructed the police to arrest him by March 18.

The former premier has skipped three hearings in the case, after being accused of concealing the details of the Toshakhana gifts, in his assets declarations.

Meanwhile, as there are speculations and rumors that Imran might get arrested by police as he is facing a number of cases in different courts, he has announced that a plan has already been devised in case of his detention. He, however, did not share any details of his plan.

On Sunday, after postponing an election rally due to Section 144 imposed in Lahore, Khan said, “In case I am arrested, we have a plan ready, which will be shared with the nation at the appropriate time.”
