A nine-year old mentally challenged boy was found raped and murdered in the Korangi neighbourhood of Karachi, on Saturday.

Police detained two people, the owner of the car and the watchman of the parking lot, for interrogation, and launched a probe.

The deceased was bluish and foaming from mouth at the time of the discovery, officials said, saying the body was moved to the JPMC to ascertain the cause of the death.

According to the police surgeon, the boy was strangled to death after being sexually assaulted. “There were multiple injuries all over the body and findings are suggestive of anal sexual abuse.”

“Other samples including DNA have been obtained; situation will become clearer after the report,” the surgeon added.

Earlier this month, two suspects were held following the brutal rape and murder of a six-year-old girl in Karachi’s Bin Qasim neighbourhood.

The hours-long protest against the incident was called off after a senior police official assured protesters about the arrests of the remaining suspects.

The girl had gone missing a few days ago after stepping outside of her house in the Data Nagar area. A police officer revealed to the media that the one of the suspects belonged to Layyah.

The other suspect, he maintained, had assisted his accomplice in throwing the girl’s body into a drain.

The officer said that the prime suspect lured the girl with toys, before subjecting her to sexual assault and strangling her to death.

Last month, an elderly man in Gharo sexually assaulted a 23-year-old mentally-challenged woman. He later confessed to his crime.

The accused, police maintained, lived near the house of the victim, and had been suffering from a mental disorder since her childhood and couldn’t speak. She was alone when the incident took place.

Police also quoted the suspect as accusing the woman of ‘luring him’ to commit the vile act, and that he ‘couldn’t control himself despite his efforts.’
