Gen Faiz Confessed To Crimes, Institution Must Act Now: Maryam
PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Thursday said that Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed confessed to his crime and so it is now time for the institutions to act.

“If he has accepted it and confessed to it, then the institution of the armed forces [should] take notice of it," Maryam said during an interview with anchorperson Adil Shahzeb during Dawn News show.

She termed the remarks by the former military officer a "confessional statement", calling him a 'stigma' for the institution.

A day earlier, Maryam demanded Faiz' court martial as according to her, he played a role in the ouster of the then PML-N government and destroyed the country by supporting ex-premier Imran Khan.

Subsequently, senior journalist Kamran Khan said in a tweet that the former ISI chief had reached out to him and provided a response to the allegations levelled at him by the PML-N leader.

According to Khan, Faiz argued that in 2017-18, he was a major general and asked whether, under army discipline, an officer alone could throw a government out.

He was also quoted as saying by the journalist that it is the army chief who has the final say, and that all the major decisions were essentially taken by the courts.

Maryam also told the interviewer that the former Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, who led a bench that disqualified Nawaz Sharif as the premier in 2017, had sought an extension from PML-N supremo.

“If Nawaz Sharif sahib agreed, and he (Khosa) got the extension, Umar Ata Bandial would not be the incumbent chief justice,” she added.
