Six Terrorists Killed In North Waziristan IBO: ISPR
Six terrorists were killed on Wednesday in an intelligence-based operation in the Datta Khel general area of North Waziristan, the military said on Wednesday.

“On March 8, an IBO was conducted by security forces in general area Datta Khel, North Waziristan District," the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement released today.

"During intense exchange of fire, six terrorists were killed,” it said and added that weapons and ammunition were also recovered following the operation.

The military's media wing further said that those killed were actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and civilians.

Concluding, it said that the locals appreciated the forces for their response and expressed their support for the cause.

Nearly a week ago, two soldiers were martyred in an exchange of fire in the district. The troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location and killed two of them while apprehending as many.

During the same month, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) foiled a terror attack and neutralised seven terrorists – three of them already in CTD custody – in a crossfire in North Waziristan.
Over the past few months, the country’s security situation has worsened, with proscribed terrorist groups like the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, the Islamic State group, Hafiz Gul Bahadur network, and Baloch separatist groups executing attacks with impunity across Pakistan. TTP ended its ceasefire with the government in late November 2022, and ordered its militants to carry out attacks across Pakistan.

CTD officials had told media persons that the militants attacked a convoy transferring terrorists between Bannu and Miranshah, at which the law enforcers retaliated and an intense exchange of fire ensued.

In January, the ISPR said 11 terrorists, including a militant commander and two suicide bombers were killed in an IBO in Tanai area of Wana in South Waziristan’s tribal district.

The security forces had “successfully foiled a high-profile terrorist activity” by executing the operation.

The killed terrorists remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces, and target killing of police in South Waziristan.
