Maryam Lashes Out At Ex-CJP Saqib Nisar For 'Facilitating' Imran Khan
PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday lashed out at former chief justice Saqib Nisar for "facilitating" Imran Khan during his term as the country's prime minister.

Addressing a rally in Sheikhupura, Maryam criticised Nisar for saying that he hadn't declared Imran Khan as 'completely' sadiq and ameen (truthful and honest) when he was the chief justice.

Now, Saqib Nisar has taken that certificate back, she said and added that it was deliberate on Nisar's part since he knew that the PTI chair would get involved in corruption in the days to come.

Maryam — who is also her party's chief organiser — labelled the former CJP a “liar” and the one who “put the fate of the nation in the hands of a narcotic user”.

She accused Imran of using his plastered leg as a escape from court hearings. “I'd have died of shame if I was a PTI follower."

The PML-N leader then asked her supporters gathered at the venue if her father Nawaz Sharif ever "used an illness" for his gains.

On Monday, Saqib Nisar said that he had never declared former prime minister Imran Khan “completely” ‘sadiq and ameen’ (honest and truthful).

In his remarks, the former CJP made a reference to the controversy surrounding the SC verdict during his tenure.

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was disqualified in 2017 under Article 62(1) (f), while Imran was not.

Imran, Nisar had said, was declared sadiq and ameen on three points. “Akram Sheikh had raised three points in writing when he sought the court’s opinion in the case.”

“I did not declare Imran completely sadiq and ameen and it was politicised later on; the judgment is still available for anyone to verify,” he maintained.

Sheikh – a senior SC lawyer – had pursued a case seeking disqualification of then premier Imran Khan.
