Imran Khan Appoints Parvez Elahi President Of PTI
PTI chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday formally appointed Parvez Elahi as the party's central president, a fortnight after the duo announced his joining of the Imran Khan-led organisation.

The formal announcement came as party stalwart Fawad Chaudhry visited the ex-Punjab chief minister at his residence. On the occasion, he presented him with the official document signed by Imran Khan.

Speaking during the meeting, Elahi said he would remain grateful to the former premier and will he stand with him in his fight to uplift the law and the Constitution.

He also said that it wasn't in the incumbent government’s capacity to block Imran Khan's path as he had now "settled into the hearts of the people."

Late last month, Elahi announced to join PTI along with 10 other former MPAs of the PML-Q, his former party.

Hours prior to the said presser, the ex-CM’s party membership was terminated by Chaudhry Shujaat, his brother and PML-Q president.

Elahi was quoted as saying at the time that he would always stand in support with the former premier in tough and testing times.

Responding to a question on whether he was given a hint by the establishment to join the former ruling party, he had said, “If it’s a hint, it’s a good thing; I try to take everyone along.”

Elahi had first revealed about the offer in January, and it came amid his disagreement with Shujaat over the deepening ties with the former premier. Shujaat, apparently, hadn't liked the closing in of the ties.

In the same month, he had endorsed his son Moonis Elahi’s stance on joining the PTI, saying “Moonis, too, wants the PML-Q to merge with the PTI.

Imran had earlier expressed interest in the two parties joining forces for common goals. He had proposed the idea during a meeting with journalists at his Zaman Town residence on Jan 14.
