Lahore police have registered around 123,000 tenants under the Tenant Registration System (TRS), as per the information received from the law enforcement agency on Thursday.
The police revealed the data in its report related to the performance of the TRS, ‘Smart Eye’ software and Registration of Private Employees (ROPE) during the first two months of 2023.
The details pertain to the checking and enrolment of tenants, passengers, and private employees through different biometric and digital applications.
The report said that Cantt Division Police enrolled more than 23,000 tenants, City Division 15,331, Civil Lines Division 6,722, Iqbal Town Division 9,333, Model Town Division 36,007 and Sadar Division 32,843 tenants under the TRS.
Lahore police also enrolled more than 4,000 private employees under Registration of Private Employees (ROPE) under the RRS this year so far. Cantt Division enrolled 626 private employees, City Division 1,222, Civil Lines Division 194, Iqbal Town Division 1,076, Model Town Division 534 and Sadar Division enrolled 429 via the system.
Lahore Police have arrested as many as 165 proclaimed offenders and 111 court absconders using the applications.
Meanwhile, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Additional IG Bilal Siddique Kamyana has directed all divisional SSPs, DSPs and SHOs to further improve their performance regarding the enrolment of tenants, passengers, and private employees through the TRS to enable police to nab the criminals.
He observed that the software under TRS have proved to be very helpful to maintain law and order in the city, and secure life, and property of citizens by tracing and nabbing law breakers and hardened criminals.
"Smart Eye (hotel and travel), another software of Lahore police has also proved to be very helpful in arresting criminals, particularly proclaimed offenders, the officer added. Some 43,93,000 people were checked via the system and a large number of proclaimed offenders were traced during the checking process.
Police checked data of over 41,40,000 passengers and more than 225,000 persons at hotels, hostels, and factories, 2,209 installations including 778 hotels, 1,212 guesthouses and hostels, and 173 factories.
Similarly, more than 2,12,000 persons and 27,862 vehicles were checked at e-police posts whereas 1,932 accused were arrested and 265 stolen vehicles were recovered during the checking.
The CCPO warned of strict action against SHOs failing to comply with the orders with regard to resolving the issues being faced the masses.
