CCPO Dogar Likely To Be Transferred Within 24 Hours Of Reinstatement

CCPO Dogar Likely To Be Transferred Within 24 Hours Of Reinstatement
After receiving orders from the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan regarding the reinstatement of Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Ghulam Mehmood Dogar it is likely that he would be transferred within 24 hours and Bilal Sidique Kamyana would be made CCPO again, a senior official confirmed The Friday Times (TFT) on Monday.

Sources who are at the helm of affairs and privy to this development confirmed TFT that SC has found a procedural lapse that would be fixed by transferring him within 24 hours and CCPO Kamyana would be made CCPO again.

Senior officials maintained that the ECP and the provincial caretaker government are sure that free and fair elections cannot be held in Lahore in the presence of CCPO Dogar whose relationship with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is exposed after the recent audio leaks between Parvez Elahi and President Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Advocate Abid Zuberi in which they talked about giving CCPO Dogar and former principal to Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Khan Bhatti’s cases to Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi.

“The other leaked audio tape between former health minister Dr Yasmeen Rashid and CCPO Dogar brutally exposed the nexus between PTI and CCPO in which she clearly said that Imran Khan is very concerned about his reinstatement,” he said.

‘Imran Khan Might Take U-turn From Jail Bharo Tehreek’

Speaking to TFT, a senior PTI leader who belongs to an inner circle of PTI Chairman Imran Khan said that the timing of leaked audio tapes was very crucial as it depicted PTI’s nexus with the judiciary and CCPO Dogar.

“Imran Khan had announced to start the Jail Bharo Tehreek from Lahore because he was sure that CCPO Dogar would be reinstated and it would be a piece of cake to carry out this movement in Dogar’s presence,” he said.

The senior PTI leader was of the opinion that in case the provincial government transfers CCPO Dogar immediately after his reinstatement, Imran Khan might take a U-Turn from his earlier stance of carrying out 'Jail Bharo Tehreek'.

“Imran Khan was very much disturbed about the leaked audio tapes as it somehow exposed his plan and that is why he carried out a hard-hitting press conference with Dr Yasmeen Rashid on Sunday,” a senior PTI leader from Central Punjab said.

“Imran Khan hasn't been to jail as yet and it was only CCPO Kamyana who had arrested PTI leaders on May 25 and he is pretty much sure about his capacity and capability to deal with an iron hand,” he maintained.

PTI insiders also confirmed TFT that Imran Khan only announced Jail Bharo Tehreek from Lahore because he was sure and received some sort of confirmation that CCPO Dogar would be reinstated.

‘PTI volunteers cannot be arrested in the absence of Section 144’

A senior police official told TFT that currently section 144 is not imposed in Lahore and PTI has announced that it has prepared a list of 12,000 volunteers who will go to prison for the Jail Bharo Tehreek movement.

“In the absence of section 144, we cannot arrest these volunteers. But as the PTI leadership has announced that they will get themselves arrested from The Mall so section 144 might be imposed at The Mall to arrest them,” a senior police official said.

‘PTI volunteers would be sent to DG Khan, Mianwali Jails’

The senior police official further said that these 12,000 volunteers, if arrested, would be kept in DG Khan and Mianwali prisons which have more capacity. “As there is no space in other prisons,” he maintained.
